Spring is a Wonderful Time of the Year for Weddings and Proms at Designed by Audrey

Wood Tile Cufflinks

It's Springtime and the wedding, graduation and prom season is in full swing.  Today I am sharing in this post some of the accessories that are available in by Etsy shop.  I have been very busy filling orders from brides, grooms, students and their parents from all over the world.  I am starting off with Scrabble Tile Cufflinks which are a big hit with the guys.  These fun cufflinks are made to order in a choice of two letters and a silver or gold base.  A set of six pairs were recently made for a groom in the UK and a set of 16 were made for a groom in the US.

White

Next, one of my brides from Australia comes to mind who just
White Freshwater Pearl Cufflink
 and Tie Clip Sets
loves pearls and chose them for the accessory theme for her wedding. I made a set of four awesome white freshwater pearl cufflinks and tie clips in a silver settings for the groom and groomsmen to match the white pearl necklace and earring sets the bridesmaids would be wearing.

Dark Blue

Lapis Lazuli Oval Cufflinks
The rich tones of dark blue is a perfect color choice for any formal occasion.  Dark blue is also one of the color cufflinks sort out by many of my grooms for themselves and to be presented as gifts to their groomsmen to accessorize their suits. Dark blue is also a favorite with young men attending prom. This season my 18x13mm oval lapis lazuli cufflinks accented in gold or silver is the blue stone most chosen.  I also carry other lapis lazuli cufflinks in an array of settings, sizes and shapes as well as tie clips and tuxedo shirt studs.

Black

This season black has been the most requested formal accessory
16mm Round Black Onyx Cufflinks
color so far.  My 16mm round black onyx cufflinks set in a silver base are a favorite choice.  I also carry an assortment of black onyx cufflinks in a variety of settings, sizes, and shapes including, 18mm and 20mm, round stones, 18x13mm ovals stones, and 16x16mm square stones.

Black Onyx Tuxedo Shirt Studs
Lastly, it seems that the guys have fallen in love with my tuxedo shirt studs which come in a set of four and are presented in an antique silver setting. The black mother of pearl tuxedo shirt studs are a favorite but the black onyx tuxedo shirts studs are the ones most requested.

It has been a pleasure to be a small part of each customers special day.  Designed by Audrey on Etsy offers a vast variety of handmade jewelry and accessories for men and women.  New items are being added all the time, so stop by for that perfect handmade item.

When You Receive a Lemon of the Purchase. . . .Make Lemonade!

By Designed by Audrey

With nearly 1,000 sales on the arisen in by Etsy shop, this elegant soft yellow freshwater pearl cufflink and tie clip set is a new one of a kind item in my shop.  The Lemonade Yellow Pearl Cufflinks and Tie Clip is similar to a set I made for my Father for Christmas.  After I made them, I liked them so much that I made a pair that will eventually make its home with one of my many awesome customers.  These beefy soft yellow pearl cabochons are 16mm round and showcased in a cufflink and tie clip gold bezel setting.

I came across these soft yellow cabochons by accident.  I ordered golden champagne pearl cabochons but somehow received a few of these soft yellow pearl cabochons in various sizes instead. As I make all kinds of stone, pearl and glass cufflinks for my male customers, I really didn't know what I would do with these yellows cabochons.  At first I was really disappointed because I really wanted the golden champagne pearls which is a favorite of my customers.  However, when I got into the Christmas spirit and started making gifts for my family and friends, I wound up making lemonade out of this lemon of a purchase. I made a similar yellow pearl cufflinks and tie clip set for my Dad as one of his Christmas gifts.  When my Dad goes to church, he gets really dressed up and I thought that this yellow set would add a little sunshine to one of his navy blue suits. I can't wait to present them to him.

Designed By Audrey’s 2012 Year End Reflections

Designed-by-Audrey.com
Now, that I am rested and refreshed from the brisk holiday sales season and all of the holiday cheer, I’m taking time to give thanks and to reflect back on 2012 and to take a look ahead to 2013.  Wow, what a great year full of blessings 2012 has been for Designed by Audrey.  Several very important milestones were reached in 2012.  I absolutely love making jewelry, but it is a part time venture because I work full time during the day. So, it’s a delicate balance in the evening between making time for family, my music ministry, my jewelry making and me.  So, I’m busy, busy, busy most of the time.  Currently, I sell my handmade jewelry online via Etsy, Artfire and Zibbet and I am pleased to announce that in December I launched my own personal website Designed-By-Audrey.com.  With my laptop on, my Samsung tablet tuned into YouTube web design how-to videos, one call to the web hosting company, and after six hours, I took the plunge. Now Designed-By-Audrey.com is a work in progress, however, the plan is to have the e-commerce section of my website fully operational to sell my jewelry by the end of February 2013.  For now, I’m letting the world know that I am here and what I do.  At present on Designed-By-Audrey.com, I have a few pieces of jewelry featured with a link to my Etsy shop for purchases.  I am also featuring a Youtube video of my men's line and an all things handmade promotion blog where I showcase various Artfire collections and Etsy treasuries. I’m excited to see what 2013 has in store for my website.  So stop by and share a link or two!

Other 2012 milestones -- In May as shared in a previous post, I reached a 200 sale milestone on Etsy and even more awesome, by the end of December I reached yet another milestone of 300 sales! With almost 400 items listed on Etsy, I am looking forward to continued growth and success.  This is all so wonderful because after my first year of selling, I decided not to do any local vending events though most of my sales for the year came through these types of events.  It was just too much.  I found that I enjoyed just being home on the weekend spending time with my family and relaxing a little in between creating new things.

In my second year out minus all but the Juneteeth vending event Waldorf, MD, my sales were a little less than my first year.  I didn’t lose faith, I just kept plugging away at posting new items, taking better pictures and promotion, promotion, promotion and my third year has been my best season yet.

So, now, I'm looking forward to pushing the bar a little further in 2013 and I give God much thanks and all the glory through Jesus Christ for that is from where all of my blessings flow.

Designed by Audrey Kicks Off the 2012 Summer Season

Well, the summer season is off to a bang and I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day.  My family remembered and celebrated the life of my cousin Charles who gave his life in the Korean War.

The school year is just about over and we are setting our sights on summertime activities and vacations.  During my upcoming vacation I plan to take a day and do some much needed organizing.  I have commandeered my dining room and my family have been really good sports about the mess.  But all of that is about to change with the purchase of a small cabinet that will house all the clutter.  This new cabinet will house my shipping supplies, pliers and other special tools I use to create my handmade jewelry and accessories.

I also plan to do some gardening.  I love to fill my many planters and the flower beds around my home with loads of colorful annuals.  I love to work with  orange and yellow marigolds, vincas, begonias, salvia - red and purple, black-eyed Susans, coleus, zennias, geraniums, gerbera daisies, and corn flowers to name a few.

The rest of the time I plan to spend at the pool, entertaining and visiting with family and friends and, of course, feeding my need to bead!

Here is a sampling of the new items I created this week:

Celebrating Another Milestone At Designed by Audrey!

Tiger's Iron & Hematite Necklace
It has taken a lot of patience and hard work, but with joy and thanksgiving, I am very excited to announce that this month Designed by Audrey has reached another milestone on Etsy -- 200 Sales!  I am happy to say that I currently have an inventory of over 350 items for sale on Etsy and I also sell my handmade jewelry and accessories in two other online venues – Artfire and Zibbet. As I work full time days, this milestone is a great return and such a reward for doing something I really enjoy!  Yes, I enjoy making jewelry and I love, love, love working with natural stone best.

Azurite Malachite Necklace
Hematite & Tiger's Eye
As I have shared previously,  I initially gave the handmade jewelry I made away as gifts to my family, friends and co-workers.  Additionally, I gave jewelry away to get feedback on material and wearability.  The items given away, for the most part, were earrings and bracelets.  Then, as I started making necklace and earring sets for myself that were custom matched to my outfits, I would get lots of compliments!  With joy, I would proclaim, "I made it myself!" Most often I was asked, if I sell my work and if I had pictures of my work. So, I quickly figured out that I needed a place where I could easily showcase my work and Etsy fit the bill.  So, I began to post my handmade items on Etsy. I tell you the truth, my first pictures were absolutely awful, but they were the best I could muster at the time.  However, within two weeks, I had my very first sale online -- despite the pictures. Now I know that pictures are paramount, but when my first customers received their order, they were very pleased and surprised at just how pretty the jewelry actually was. Those early pictures keep me humble as there are still a few of them here and there in my current listings.  I still struggle with the picture taking, but I am improving.

Sodalite Cross Necklace
Up until this year most of my sales were accomplished by word of mouth, at craft shows and vending events.  However with this 200 sale milestone, my Etsy sales are starting to catch up with my offline sales.  In celebration, I want to first thank God for the ability to make jewelry, for customers and for the many wonderful Artisans I have met and network with on Etsy, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Wano, Stumbleupon, Blogspot, Artfire, and Zibbet.

Horn & Bone Beaded Bracelet
Ocean Fossil Jasper Cuff Links
And, most exciting is the fantastic response I have received to the  launching of my men’s jewelry line just a few months ago. I have been showcasing a few items from my men's jewelry line in this post. Sales have been great online and offline and I am happy to say that I am growing my men's jewelry line with over 80 items in stock.  There are beaded necklaces, bracelets and cuff links in an array of colors, styles and materials which includes blackstone, tigers iron, horn, bone, puka shell, sodalite, agate, wood, tigers eye, sponge coral, onyx, jasper, hematite, jade, adventure, turquoise, howlite, obsidian, marble, azurite malachite and glass.   Thank you guys for supporting me!

I'm excited about the future and I am in the processing of learning new techniques and skills to take my jewelry and accessories to the next level.  But today, I'm celebrating my 200th sale on Etsy.  I am adding new items all the time, so don't be a stranger Designed by Audrey on Etsy!
